Organic? I wish…

I appreciate the idea of developing an agriculture that is better for the environment, health and for animals. I would support Organic Farming and I would buy organic products if:

  • Organic farmers were allowed to use whichever tool is best for the environment, health and for animals. Unfortunately, the organic industry actively opposes and undermines biotechnology.
  • If organic production did not use up significantly more land — making it worse for the environment.
  • If the whole Organic industry wasn’t based on pseudo-science and lies. Organic farmers use pesticides as well, but they usually pretend they don’t. They don’t use “synthetic” pesticides but in some cases using synthetic pesticides can be better for the environment, health and the animals and organic farmers cannot use them. They cannot use them because the organic industry is based on the fallacy that just because something is seen as “natural”, it is automatically better. Organic organisations and shops often attack “Big Ag” and “Big Pharma”, pushing various quackeries instead (homeopathy, crystals and plenty of unproven “remedies”).
