Saw this today, I thought it was excellent:
<< ”It’s not vegan” is always said in the most annoying and matter of fact way to shut down discussion whenever someone asks about the ethics of something pertaining to animals, in any scenario where you have more than a few vegans. And those people always reckon they’re so fucking clever to just obliterate the discussion with the brilliant and original point that they made. Encountering that sort of insufferable dogmatism was what deterred me from taking up veganism for so long, and I’m sure it’s the same case with many other people. >>
We focus on subjective definitions of veganism, and treat that as a substantive argument for/against the issues. Really, we should focus on the merits of the viewpoint, rather than whether it fits into this category that nobody really agrees on.
